Achilles Tendonitis
Achilles Tendonitis causes inflammation and degeneration of the Achilles Tendon. The pain can be a shooting, burning or an extremely piercing pain in the back of the leg. Some causes are over-pronation, improper shoe selection, inadequate stretching prior to engaging in athletics, or a short Achilles Tendon. To relieve the pain, you must elevate the heel to reduce the tension on the Achilles Tendon, absorb shock and provide cushioning.

Arch Pain / Arch Strain
Arch pain refers to an inflammation and/or burning sensation at the arch of the foot. There are numerous foot conditions that can lead to arch pain. While high arches can cause pain, it is more frequently related to a flat feet problem. Flat feet can result from conditions such as post-tibial tendon disfunction; or simply changes in lifestyle such as excessive weight gain or long distance running. To relieve flat feet related arch pain, support the arch, absorb shock and wear footwear with firm heel counters.

Bunions (Hallux Valgus)
A bunion is a prominent bump on the inside of the foot around the big toe joint. This bump is actually a bone protruding towards the inside of the foot. Some of the symptoms include inflammation, swelling and soreness on the side surface of the big toe. Bunions can develop from conditions such as arthritis, but are more commonly caused by wearing shoes that do not fit properly in the toe area. To relieve the pain, it is critical to wear properly fitting footwear. Other conservative treatments include bunion shields, night splints and toe straighteners.

Hammer Toes
A hammer toe is a toe that is contracted at the middle joint in the toe and can lead to severe pressure and pain. Ligaments and tendons that have tightened cause the toe’s joints to curl downwards. Hammer toes may occur in any toe, except the big toe and can be either flexible or rigid. To relieve the pain, you must wear footwear with a high, broad toe area and use a forefoot support to reduce the pressure and pain.

Metatarsalgia (Ball-of-foot pain)
Metatarsalgia is a general term used to denote a painful foot condition at the ball of the foot. The pain or inflammation can develop from conditions such as Morton’s Neuroma or Arthritis, but is usually the result of excessive pressure over an extended period of time. This excessive pressure is frequently due to improper fitting footwear, such as women’s dress shoes and other restrictive footwear which forces the foot into a minimal amount of space. To relieve the pain, you must unload pressure at the ball of the foot, absorb shock and provide cushioning.

Plantar Fasciitis / Heel Pain
Plantar fasciitis is a painful inflammation often caused by excessive stretching of the plantar fascia. The plantar fascia is a broad band of fibrous tissue, which runs from the heel bone to the forefoot. Plantar Fasciitis can cause heel pain, arch pain and often heel spurs. To relieve the pain, you must elevate the heel, absorb shock and provide cushioning.
